Mango trees are more commonly associated with the delicious fruit but the timber is also widely used because of the wood’s natural resistance to water. Furniture produced from mango timber is characterised by a grey or greenish brown colour with a coarse texture resulting in an attractive rustic appearance, the heart wood however develops an attractive blonde appearance. The tree grows up to 30-40 metres in height and only when the tree is past its fruiting life is the timber harvested for furniture making.
All our timber is sourced from sustainable forests. This means the tree used in your product has been replaced and the forest managed in such a way as to benefit the local economy, community and wildlife. This wood is spread all over India and makes furniture production affordable. After a certain age of the Mango tree wood reaches a similar hardness as Teak. Furniture made from Indian Mango wood is very stylish and gives opportunity for heavy carving and takes very good shape for the furniture.
